Portuguese Prime-Minister present at the 4th Ministerial eGovernment Conference

José Sócrates, Prime-Minister of Portugal and currently the President of the European Union (EU), will deliver a speech at the opening of the 4th Ministerial eGovernment Conference, which will take place on September 20 next, at 09:10 hours. The Minister for the Presidency, Pedro Silva Pereira, and the European Commissioner for Administrative Affairs, Audit and Anti-Fraud, Siim Kallas will also attend the opening ceremony.

After delivering his speech, the Prime-Minister, together with other members of the Portuguese Government, will visit the Exhibition pertaining to the Conference and become acquainted with the 52 projects contending for the European Prizes for the Best eGovernment Practices, on show, with special reference to the three Portuguese projects which are finalists for these prizes.

The Exhibition’s aim is to demonstrate cases of success in the area of eGovernment, highlighting the progress achieved in this issue in various European countries, including Portugal, in order to encourage and increase the implementation of the best practices related to electronic administration in other countries.

Along with the contending projects for the European Prizes for the Best eGovernment Practices, the Exhibition also includes a stand of the host country, Portugal, and a representation of the European Union. Twelve sponsors of the event will also be present in the Exhibition. 
 
The 4th eGovernment Ministerial Conference is an event organized jointly by the Portuguese Government and the European Commission, which will be held in the Lisbon International Fair - Parque das Nações, from 19 to 21 September.
